Assistant Environmental Officer – Fixed Term Contract (FTC) ( 83 )
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Sappi Saiccor seeks to employ an incumbent to facilitate environmental compliance in the related to Project work and to assist the Mill SHEQ team with various SHEQ duties but focus primarily on the Mill training and coordination of the Mill environmental representative process
REPORTING TO the Environmentalist
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out and monitor project related environmental issues
- Consolidate and carry out various SHEQ training
- Conduct various audits and manage any legal transgressions
- Assist with Authorisation requirements for project related work
- Fulfil a government liaison function in terms of interacting with the authorities in terms of all the project work that is ongoing
- Monitor critical environmental jobs and ensure that the plants adhere to the correct procedures
- Log SHEQ deviations on SAP
- Reporting unsafe conditions to management for action
- Perform daily walkabout in the plant
- Raise environmental awareness amongst contractors
- Conduct informal checks on procedures, work instructions, and policies to ensure that the system is fully implemented
- Monitor compliance with Environmental Act and also continuous improvement
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- NQF level 4 qualification
- Environmental Certificate/Equivalent
- NQF 6 in Environmental Management would be advantageous
- SAP Literacy (Advantageous)
