Summary

Infectious disease emergencies have disastrous impacts on families, societies, systems, and economies. The READY initiative brings together leadership from Save the Children, Johns Hopkins University’s (JHU) Center for Humanitarian Health, JHU’s Center for Communication Programs, UK-Med and the Humanitarian Leadership Academy to fill critical gaps and augment what already exists to support NGO readiness for major infectious disease response. The Lead Associate, Programs is responsible for supporting READY’s success by providing high-quality and proactive program, MEAL, communications and knowledge management support to the initiative and all consortium partners. You will report to the READY Chief of Party and will serve on READY’s core team and as a member of Save the Children’s broader One Humanitarian Team. What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Program Support and Implementation (50%)

  • Provide program management support to priority capacity strengthening initiatives and workstreams; support Activity Leads to ensure that activities are on time, on budget and at quality, that READY processes are understood and followed, and that cross-cutting priorities and commitments (risk communication and community engagement, localization, and gender) are meaningfully integrated into READY’s work
  • Support the development, design and maintenance of the READY Learning Hub; support the team to review and curate new content, analyze end-user and dissemination analytics and feedback, and propose adaptions to improve performance and engagement with the platform
  • Support Activity Leads to design and execute webinars (objectives, panelists, flow, etc.) and design and execute dissemination strategies
  • Support the design and implementation of systems and processes to support successful initiative implementation
  • Together with the READY’s Chief of Party, monitor progress across the workplan, providing regular updates and escalating issues to ensure key activities stay on track
  • Backstop Senior Program Associate as necessary to establish and execute key operations processes and tasks to ensure the successful delivery of the workplan and overall initiative aims
  • Monitor and track expenditures

Communications and Knowledge Management (KM) – 30%

  • Act as co-lead of READY’s Knowledge Management (KM)/Communications Task Team, supporting the development, execution and performance monitoring of READY’s internal and external Communications and KM strategy
  • Lead implementation and monitoring of specific KM/communications workstreams within the strategy
  • Support READY Activity Leads and Technical Advisors across all consortium partners to develop and implement activity specific engagement and dissemination strategies
  • Develop and update external facing communications regarding READY, its impact and offer (general and activity specific)
  • Establish a process and lead the review and analysis of external knowledge management/communications analytics and propose adaptations to improve performance and impact

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) – 20%

  • Support Senior MEAL Advisor with research related activities, including drafting and formatting questionnaires, conducting qualitative coding and analysis, writing report sections (including background, qualitative methodology and findings sections), and supporting in setting up and analyzing key informant interviews
  • Support Senior MEAL Advisor to develop, analyze, and action internal project learning, including after action reviews; lead implementation of activity specific learning activities
  • Support MEAL Advisor to analyze data to inform initiative progress and needed adaptations
  • Contribute to regular program reporting, indicator tracking, and internal and external representation requests

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience and knowledge in International Programs
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and analytical skills
  • Experience developing and implementing processes and systems to improve programmatic performance
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver complex tasks and projects, often with competing deadlines
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 10% of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in humanitarian response/programming, monitoring and evaluation, program management, public health or learning pedagogy
  • Experience with USAID-funded health programs, including global mechanisms, and knowledge of USAID technical and operational requirements
  • Professional written and verbal French or Spanish proficiency
