Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sociology

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of a Lecturer with specialization in Industrial Sociology, Criminology, Medical Sociology and Rural Sociology.
1. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Candidates must have:
- At least a Masters’ Degree in Sociology;
- (vi) B.A. degree in Sociology;
- (vii) Have specialization in any of the following areas: Industrial Sociology, Criminology, Medical Sociology and Rural Sociology;
- (viii) At least three years of teaching experience at a tertiary level.
The following shall count as added advantage:
- A Ph.D. in Sociology;
- Have taken courses in Sociological Research Methods;
- A good and sustained record of research and publications in refereed journals.
The Curriculum Vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published name of publisher, and name of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc. and include the DOI or ISSN numbers.
2. Duties:
The successful candidate will be expected to teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students in Social Work and to maintain publications of research articles in accredited journals and/or books. The candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate/postgraduate students; participate in departmental and faculty tasks; mentor junior members of staff; collaborate with members of the department in research and publications; community engagement; and undertake any other duties that maybe assigned.
3. Remuneration:
The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
4. Type of employment:
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal.
