PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To ensure that the security service is afforded within the bounds of the set policies and standard operating procedures.
To ensure that Security Policies are not violated and advice the Security Manager accordingly of the violations.
To grant access into the mine in relation to the set procedures.
To sign off Pass out forms for property leaving site.
To receive and analyse reports of security threats facing the mine, and report to the Security Manager.
To provide guarding and patrolling services when required.
To provide escort for executive management visitors, especially to the red areas.
To monitor the effectiveness of the procedures and advice the Security Manager of any shortcomings
or improvements needed on the procedures.
Overseeing camp and parameter security.
Reports and investigates any irregularities.
Reports to Assistant Security Manager.
Liaising with outside stakeholders such as the Army, Police, National Security Service, and the Disaster
Management Authority in the absence of Assistant Security Manager.
Overseeing of diesel delivery and dispensation for Mine use.
Analyze the post risks pertaining to mine property and mitigates the risks with the advice of Security
Manager.
To make purchases aligned to security budget.
To have sound knowledge of Sage software for procurement and accounting purposes.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & RELATED EXPERIENCE
• Degree In Security Management/ Degree in Operational Studies, or any other relevant qualifications
• 8 Years’ Experience in a diamond security environment.
• 15 Years Experience in a Military/Police background in highest ranking group (Senior Officers)
• 5 Years’ investigative background
• 6 Years’ Experience in court processes
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Perform CCTV camera surveillance operations in all risk areas where personnel come into direct contact with concentrate
• Closely monitor all diamonds processing activities with the view to detecting anomalies or untoward incidents or practices and immediately escalates the same to line Supervisor / Manager
• Interact with supervisory personnel to ensure consistency in workflow and processes between departments
• Conduct planned, focused surveillance activities of personnel with the view to detecting anomalies as suspicious practices by individuals
• Maintain sound knowledge of the CCTV’s functionality and only operate within set perimeters
• Advise plant / recovery / sort house security personnel about plant operations / proceedings that are hidden from CCTV coverage areas and when necessary, arrange placement and positioning of portable CCTV camera to oversee operations
• Ensure effective daily administration of the security access control system and report anomalies and action taken to prevent unauthorized entry into high-risk areas
• Ensure compliance and adherence to policies, procedures and SHE and Security standards and best practices
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Report writing skills
• Analytical with attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and visualization.
• Good grasp of English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation
• Expertise in security and related electronic systems.
• Accurate management of control room CCTV and electronic equipment.
• Ability to conduct security related Risk Assessments within different types of industries.
• Advanced training of Security Access Control
• Criminal Procedure and evidence.
• Precious Stone Act.
• Familiar with investigation procedures and methods.
• Adequate knowledge of the criminal Act and human relations Act.
• Familiar with the law of Security Officers.
• Working Knowledge of CCTV hardware and software.
• Should have an in-depth knowledge of Security environment and security hazards.
• Metallurgical plant knowledge and experience.
