Background:
The Ministry of Health (MOH) will be receiving funding from the Global Fund to support the implementation of TB and HIV programmes. The main goal of the grant is sustaining gains made in HIV treatment and improving the quality of the programme, accelerating HIV prevention, addressing human rights barriers to assessing services, strengthening health and community systems to improve HIV, TB and SRH outcomes, scaling up the MDR -TB care and prevention and PLHIV given co-infection. To enable MOH Global Fund supported activities effectively, workforce is required to fill posts on fixed contract until 31st March 2027.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Medical Officer, Assistant Radiographer will provide TB screening services through chest X-ray imaging and contribute to diagnosis of TB and Occupational Lung Disease at the Mobile X-ray clinic.

    Duties and Responsibilities.

    • Performs TB screening of identified communities including key affected populations and other occupational lung disease using the mobile x-ray
    • Works with district outreach teams and the DHMT to map screening activities
    • Ensures that the radiographer screen is updated with all relevant information before taking any image
    • Ensures client safety, particular attention to exposure and pregnant women.
    • Performs Direct Digital Chest X-rays (CXR) using the X-ray equipment.
    • Ensures that all X-ray equipment is kept operational and maintained regularly.
    • Provides technical advice on the safe usage and hazards that may arise from operating x-ray equipment.
    • Makes informative diagnostic reports and advises on alternative imaging modalities that will further support patient’s diagnoses.
    • Ensures that the mobile x-ray is kept risk and infection free and clean
    • Ensures recording of all the clients and patients screened and scheduling of future screenings
    • Assists with imaging exams:
    • Sets up the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper isolations precautions when needed.
    • Provide quality customer service, explains to patient in a clear manner the objective of the screening and obtains verbal consent
    • Positions the patient, ensuring patient comfort and modesty.
    • Recording and Reporting of clients and patients screened and design monitoring system to avoid screening ineligible ones e.g. pregnant women,

    Qualification and work experience

    • Certificate in Radiography (from a recognized institution)
    • Excellent inter-personal skills and communication skills
    • Must have customer care orientation
    • Computer literacy

    Language requirements
    Excellent knowledge of written and oral English including Sesotho
