Background:
The Ministry of Health (MOH) will be receiving funding from the Global Fund to support the implementation of TB and HIV programmes. The main goal of the grant is sustaining gains made in HIV treatment and improving the quality of the programme, accelerating HIV prevention, addressing human rights barriers to assessing services, strengthening health and community systems to improve HIV, TB and SRH outcomes, scaling up the MDR -TB care and prevention and PLHIV given co-infection. To enable MOH Global Fund supported activities effectively, workforce is required to fill posts on fixed contract until 31st March 2027.

Job Title: TB Screening & Triage Clerk

Under supervision of the Nurse in charge in triaging of patients in the facility TB Screening & Triage Clerk will be responsible to the following:

  • Provide TB screening to all patients presenting in OPD; ART clinic; In-patients and all other entry points at the facility and record in the TB screening and detection register.
  • Coach presumptive TB cases on how to produce sputum sample and ascertains compliance.
  • Follow up bacteriological test results of all presumptive clients and record them to prevent primary loss to follow ups.
  • Ensure that all TB patients are supported to enroll on ART as per the national guidelines.
  • Ensure that all under fi ve children who screened negative for TB are initiated on IPT.
  • Discuss follow-up plan with patient (SMS system, honouring appointments) initiated on TB treatment.
  • Map contacts and family members for TB screening and Primary Loss to Follow Ups (PLTFUs)
  • Provide health education on TB, MDR-TB, TB/HIV services especially promotion of good cough etiquette, and importance good quality sputum production.
  • Participate in district community TB screening campaigns.
  • Provide HTS to patients with TB when need arise.
  • oversees and initiates window opening in the OPD or ART clinics.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the management.
  • Requirements:
  • COSC/LGCSE/ Certificate in Health-related program is preferred.
  • Be familiar with health care system of Lesotho.
  • Be familiar with the health services/programs provided in health facilities.
  • Knowledge of the data collection and reporting tools used in health facilities.
  • Be willing to travel to rural areas for community screening.
  • Applicants shall be below 60 years of age.
