In Lesotho in particular, Jhpiego has been operating since 2012 through supporting the government of Lesotho in delivering health services to the Basotho people. Jhpiego’s portfolio currently focuses on HIV/TB and COVID epidemic response and includes a range of HIV and COVID-focused programming and research efforts, HIV (VMMC and PrEP), MOSAIC (biomedical HIV prevention including Dipivefrine Ring Introduction), THEBE (TB Contact Tracing), COVID-focused (COVID Case Management and Vaccine Support), CUT-TB (RCT) and various other small studies.

Jhpiego is looking for suitable candidate for the below vacant position.

Position: Senior Technical Officer (RISE)
Duration: 5 months

Responsibilities
• Stay abreast of the latest scientific and technical information related to COVID-19.
• Provides technical advice, guidance and support for the design, management, and implementation of the COVID-19 response, coordination and communication
• Collaborate with government officials to develop and review policies and guidelines related to COVID-19 prevention, treatment, and vaccination and ensure policies are evidence-based and aligned with global best practices
• Conduct quarterly joint supportive supervision visits with the MOH team to ensure the integration of COVID-19 vaccination into PHC and strengthen program management in the four priority districts
• Provide TA to support health education at the facility level: HCWs at the facilities will incorporate COVID-19 in health education sessions to ensure clients are well informed on the process, benefits, and adverse effects of the vaccine to make informed decisions.
• Ensure implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of COVID-19 response interventions
• Work with District Information Officers to ensure (MOH/CHAL/partner staff) at health facilities support COVID-19 vaccination data capturing, cleaning, analysis, reporting, and use.
• Analyze data and provide regular reports to inform decision-making
• Develop and implement communication strategies to disseminate accurate and timely information on COVID-19 prevention and response measures including development of key messages on COVID-19 Vaccination
• Work with communication teams to address public concerns and misconceptions.
• Represents the project to key stakeholders, prepare and deliver high-quality conversations during stakeholder meetings, as needed
• Build close working relationships with key stakeholders
• Other duties, as assigned by a senior member of the organization.

Qualifications, Experience and Requirements
Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Nursing and Midwifery required
• Valid registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Public Health setting, diploma or master’s in Public Health would an added advantage
• In-depth knowledge of COVID-19 transmission, prevention, and treatment
• Experience in COVID-19 vaccination, testing and management
• Good understanding of infection control procedures

Required Abilities/Skills:
• Familiarity with Lesotho health system and reporting structure and demonstrated ability to collaborate with government level officials to strengthen program implementation
• Extensive experience in public health, infectious disease management, or emergency response.
• Demonstrated ability in working and collaborating with a wide range of local partner organizations Strong knowledge of COVID-19 epidemiology, prevention, and treatment strategies.
• Proven experience in strategic planning and policy development.
• Excellent leadership, communication and writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Experience working with international teams is desirable.
• Familiarity with donor requirements and grant management
