Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.
BCMCFL is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill in the following position on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis at Leribe Satelite Centre of Excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities
Position overview:
Reporting directly to the Head Nurse, is responsible for the general assessment of all patients in a timely and efficient manner, to screen and identify their individual needs and determine the nursing care interventions. Nurse main professionalism in all interactions, hold in confidence all personal matters coming to their knowledge and work in a conducive environment. Nursing is dynamic and the roles may change as COE continues to develop and grow.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Nurse shall:
Assess and monitor all patients from arrival at the center until discharge
- Triage
- Welcome the patients and their families and explain the triage procedures
- Assess and record all vital
- Provide care to critically ill patients and transfer to other clinical hospital as necessary
- Screening/Rapid tests for urine and blood
- Laboratory tests:
- Perform all venous blood-draw or heel-stick procedures on patients, using sterile technique and universal precautions for laboratory tests
- Provide reproductive health services
- Consultation:
- Provide direct clinical care services (diagnostic and therapeutic) to children and families at the COE
- Provide direct clinical care services to adolescents at COE, SCOE and the Queen Mamohato Memorial Hospital Baylor Adolescent Clinic
- Preventive:
- Administer Immunizations to children and adults as necessary
- Provide routine screening for TB and other communicable diseases for all staff at risk
- Give health education to patients and Baylor clients
- Training and mentorship:
- Give lectures to other professionals in and outside the center
- Orientate and mentor newly employed nurses for COE, SCOE and Projects
- Take part in pre-service training of nursing students at all levels who are attached at the center
- Perform other nursing roles
- Perform other duties assigned by the administration within the scope of practice

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies
- Bachelor of Nursing degree is an added advantage
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery
- 2 years’ work experience in HIV management in pediatrics experience
- Current registration with Lesotho Nursing Council is a prerequisite
