Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions tenable in the Ministry of Health.
JOB TITLE: MORTUARY ASSISTANT
GRADE: E
NO. OF POSITION: FIVE (5)
RESPONSIBLE TO: SENIOR MORTUARY OFFICER
MAIN DUTIES
- Receiving, registering and storing bodies as prescribed in hospital procedures
- Releasing, recording and facilitating transfer of bodies to relatives and other mortuaries
- Cleaning mortuary daily
- Reporting to seniors on losses, repairs etc
- Inspecting and reporting storage refrigerators or cold room temperatures to seniors in order to facilitate early detection of malfunction
- Ensuring safe storage of consumables and equipment and specimens and timely transfer of the latter to the appropriate aboratories.
- Assist the doctor in post-mortem examinations where appropriate
