JOB DESCRIPTION

POST TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING ASSISTANT
DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: REGISTRAR
REPORTS TO: DEPUTY REGISTRAR – COMMUNICATIONS& MARKETING

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Deputy Registrar – Communications & Marketing, the Communications & Marketing officer will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that enhance the Polytechnic’s visibility, attract prospective students, and engage our diverse community. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical skills, and strategic thinking. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in graphic design, photography, and experience with design programs and tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The key duties of the post are as follows :-

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies to promote the Polytechnic’s programs, events, and achievements.
  • Design visually appealing and effective marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, posters, social media graphics, and digital content.
  • Manage LP’s website and social media platforms, creating engaging content and monitoring analytics to drive growth and engagement.
  • Capture high-quality photographs of LP’s events, facilities, and activities to be used in marketing campaigns.
  • Identifies areas where LP can participate as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and form strategic partnerships;
  • Maintain a data base of external partnership and nurture those partnerships for on-going support to the Polytechnic;
  • Collaborate with various departments to produce content that aligns with the LP’s brand and strategic goals;
  • Ensures all products, services, and other offerings conform to brand identity; conduct ongoing brand management, assures consistency on all LP materials including the logo;
  • Coordinate and manage marketing campaigns, including email marketing, web content updates, and digital advertising.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform marketing strategies.
  • Organize and participate in promotional events such as open days, career fairs, and conferences and others
  • Prepare and present regular reports on marketing activities and their effectiveness

NB* Because of the changing nature of our business your job description will inevitably change. You will, from time to time, be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within your capabilities as directed by management.

Competencies

  • Experience in digital marketing, including social media management and email marketing.
  • Experience with marketing planning, strategy formulation and execution
  • Sound knowledge of designing and producing high-quality marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
  • Demonstrated graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Excellent photography skills and experience with photo editing software
  • Organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a diverse environment of academic and administration staff;
  • Energetic with an ability to adapt to various circumstances and to work under pressure;
  • Time conscious

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Creative Advertising or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a marketing role.

NB* Work experience in an educational institution or similar environment is an added advantage.

Employment type

The appointment for the position is four (4) years fixed-term contract.
