The SDG Advocate programme will offer 26 active citizens an opportunity to become one of Ireland’s SDG Advocates through this innovative project. This training course will allow the advocates to deepen their understanding of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals, represent the project internationally and lead transformative change in Ireland.
The mission of Development Perspectives is to contribute to lessening poverty, inequality and climate change through transformative education and active global citizenship. The SDG advocate programme helps us achieve this mission. The focus is on poverty, human rights, trade, globalisation, conflict, sustainability, systems thinking, social change and aid. We will engage participants in an experiential learning journey that aims to challenge views, opinions, knowledge and awareness of the world around us.

Requirements:
Have some basic knowledge and/or experience of development education/active citizenship.
•Preference will be given to those who have involvement in Adult and Community Education.
•Have a desire and willingness to participate in a range of development education/citizenship or advocacy issues upon completion of the programme.
•Committed to attending and participating in the full duration of the training course and facilitating/organising/sharing some of your experiences to a wide audience on your return.
Financial Consideration:
Accommodation, food, internal travel in Tanzania and Vietnam, residential and facilitation costs will be met by Development Perspectives. Flights, insurance, visa costs and medical costs to be met by the advocates.
There is also an expectation to fundraise €950 for Development Perspectives (before you leave for the experiential learning phase). (All fundraised money is a contribution to the overall cost of the SDG Advocate Programme.)
There is a non-refundable deposit of €100 upon acceptance of your place. * Please note: This deposit is separate to the fundraising requirement
