Letšeng seeks to engage a Mosotho professional with appropriate skills and aptitude to fill the position of CARPENTER (PATTERSON BU) x1
PURPOSE: To execute instructions using technical specifications, knowledge and skills to respond to construction and/or maintenance of infrastructure at Letšeng Mine.
MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Complete risk assessments prior to starting the job and use PPE and tools correctly to ensure safety
• Follow SHE procedures, obtain required permits and liaise with other relevant departments/sections as required
• Receive maintenance assignments for completion and plan, prioritise and organise
• Identify the problem through observation checks and apply technical knowledge and skills to select the best cost-effective solution to resolve the problem
• Select appropriate materials and tools to complete the assignment and report completed construction/maintenance assignments to line supervisor
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
• Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
• Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements
• Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
• Lay out floorings, roofings or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible
• Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated
• Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Relevant Trade Certificate (Carpentry)
• Light Vehicle Driver’s License
• 3 years relevant carpentry experience in a construction environment
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Knowledge and understanding carpentry trade protocols and technologies.
• The ability to analyse situations and arrive at the best possible solution.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the work methods and techniques applied in the execution of outputs.
