CARTOGRAPHER
The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified Basotho nationals for the above position:
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum qualification requirement is a BSc/ BA, B. Tech, BSc /BA Honors degrees or their equivalents with specialist training in Cartography, Map making and GIS; plus, a minimum of 2 years as a Cartographer and/ or GIS specialist in any organization. The prospective candidate should possess adequate knowledge of Cartography to be able to undertake cartography laboratory preparations without supervision. The candidate must have adequate knowledge of basic and advanced Cartography, Map making and GIS literacy and be able to do teaching of students on how to make maps of their own using equipment in the cartography laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Making preparations prior to laboratory sessions and supervision of students during cartography laboratory sessions
- Assist lecturers, administer and assess cartography practicals.
- Laboratory housekeeping, including handling of equipment and minor repairs and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Keeping inventory of maps and laboratory equipment.
- Ordering of maps, map making and general cartographic equipment.
Duration of Employment
Successful local candidates will be employed on permanent and pensionable basis in line with the regulations of the NUL for non-academic and/or academic staff personnel depending on their qualification and staff category.
