Overview:

KARABO EA BOPHELO at Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho. The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free pediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions. Karabo ea Bophelo (KB) is a five-year USAID-funded activity to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Lesotho. These positions are based in any of KB supported districts.

BCMCFL-KB is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill in the following positions on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis for the duration of four years:

Duties and Responsibilities

Position Overview

The Director-Technical reports directly to Chief of Party. S/he will be responsible for technical leadership of the program to ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of all products and activities generated. He/she will manage the design and implementation of key components of the program description and ensure adherence to global standards of excellence in OVC and AGYW programming. The Director-Technical will also be responsible for managing the technical project team for this grant and may be required to travel frequently to key districts. The position is based in Maseru.

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies

  • Degree in Social Science, Development Studies or related field
  • Fifteen (15) years working experience
  • Eight years (8) of experience implementing OVC program in a development context, with five of these years in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably in Lesotho
  • Involvement with social services or public health project design, implementation, system strengthening, reporting and evaluation, including evaluation of evidence-based economic/livelihood projects for vulnerable groups, such as OVC or graduation programming
  • Demonstrated state-of-the art experience at a middle or senior level management in at least three of the following areas: child protection, household economic strengthening, social protection, education, health and nutrition including HIV/AIDS care and support; quality improvement; social service system strengthening, including social services workforce; M&E; and operations research
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, coordinating and supervising a team working with local community organizations, families and communities
  • Demonstrated skills in project design, implementation and reporting, preferable for USG funded programs
  • Professional level of oral and written fluency in English language
  • Strong writing skills about program activities, outcomes and impact
