ORT SA CAPE is an NGO operating at the forefront of education in the Western Cape. We focus on training and supporting teachers in disadvantaged communities in order to ensure that the children they teach are able to learn effectively.

ORT SA CAPE is looking for a EduTech Programme Manager to support the organisation’s education efforts through the development and delivery of coding and robotics teacher training programmes aimed at ECD and primary school educators. The incumbent will also support and assist with ORT SA CAPE’s online training initiatives via webinars or via our Moodle learning management system.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
The following statements are not intended as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required. As this is an NGO, you may be required to do other work as needed for the organisation as directed.

Coding/robotics project design, implementation and management
Design, document and implement effective training workshops that can be delivered to teachers
Routinely evaluate and ensure that educational programs are responsive to the needs of the community and educational partners
Champion coding and robotics in the organisation
Identify and recruit schools and teachers for implementation
Track activities and progress of teacher training programmes
Oversee administrative processes and registration as related to coding and teacher training
Assist with training delivery where needed
Manage product orders for ORT SA CAPE early coding and robotics kits
Plan and coordinate marketing initiatives to bring attention to ORT SA CAPE’s coding and robotics programme and to drive interest
Develop relationships with potential funders in the region in coordination with ORT SA CAPE’s fundraising team
Liaise with school principals & school governing bodies and parents
Write regular project reports for donors, where required
Other Duties
Assist with filming and moderation of live online training / webinar sessions
Assist with the administration of the ORT SA CAPE learning management system
Stay abreast of developments in the field of digital educational technologies for school children and share information, ideas, and suggestions with the team/organisation
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Work experience and industry exposure
Bachelor’s degree and experience in education is essential
Experience working in training development and with Primary School children is a distinct advantage.
Proven ability to research, innovate and willingness to learn new skills
Strong Communication skills
Excellent business writing skills with good spelling and grammar skills (with special attention to clarity, conciseness and accuracy) and the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences.
Strong networking and consulting skills, able to serve as an effective organisational ambassador.
Ability to engage and manage larger groups in the classroom setting.
Experience in developing, delivering and administrating of education, training or learning programmes, special projects and services, based on identified beneficiary needs.
Excellent Administration Skills
Results-oriented individual, with outstanding organisational skills who is accountable and takes pride in their work.
Highly organised and efficient individual who can multitask and work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
A flexible, self-driven individual who is able to work autonomously while maintaining open channels of communication with a team.
Comfortable working in an unstructured environment and able to work well across cross-functional teams
General
A demonstrated interest in technology with the ability to adapt to new technological areas.
Familiarity with course design and development
Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office and Google Docs is essential; exposure to working with real world coding (e.g. Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS, or Arduino) is desirable
Experience in online learning and/or customer service as well as experiencing with Moodle is an advantage.
A code 08 drivers’ licence with a clean record and own transport.
