Position: Financial Accountant
Department: Finance
Reports To: Head of Finance – Planning and Analysis
Main Purpose:
To ensure accurate and timely financial reports are prepared in line with company and group guidelines
Major Tasks:
- Prepares Annual Financial Statements
- Takes lead in external audit process and maintain external audit tracker
- Prepares monthly flash reports and consolidate for ETL group (In both excel and HFM)
- Prepares monthly financial reports (Financial Statements) and consolidate for ETL group (In both excel and HFM)
- Prepares month-end journals for approval
- Reviews GL entries pre and post GL close
- Liaises with all business divisions for timely GL closure
- Performs GL reconciliation loans and IC
- Compiles profit and loss accounts for all shops
- Compiles segment reports (Consumer, Business)
- Compiles detailed departmental opex report
- Prepares LCA quarterly reports
- Performs Business Valuations
- Appraises Technical Projects
Educational Qualifications and Related Experience:
- A degree in Accounting
- 2 to 3 years of experience in the Finance function, specifically in roles involving the compilation of financial statements
- Member of Lesotho Institute of Accountants
Knowledge Areas & Competencies:
- Proficiency in compiling accurate and compliant financial statements
- Understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines in fast-paced finance department
- Experience in financial software such as HFM, Oracle or SAP
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prepare reports
- Ability to plan and organize in line with job requirements
- Ability to analyse and solve work-related problems to achieve the correct outcomes
- Ability to interact, negotiate (where applicable), and achieve targets
- Ability to manage and develop staff
