Position: General Manager – Sasai Econet Financial Services
Organisation: Sasai Econet Financial Services (SEFS)
Reports To: SEFS Board
Main Purpose:
Drive SEFS strategy and achieve strategic objectives, enhance customer experience and improve financial performance. Support CEO on company related activities and decisions and also collaborate with all organizational units.
Major Tasks:
Strategic Leadership and Business Development:
- Provides clear direction and vision for SEFS growth and success
- Drives entrepreneurship and innovation in the Fintech ecosystem
- Establishes goals, objectives, and KPIs to drive the organization’s progress
- Directs the implementation of the social payments platform effectively
- Evaluates market trends and customer feedback for product development
- Enforces continuous improvement of Pay, Chat, and Play features
- Examines new business opportunities and potential partnerships
- Collaborates with stakeholders to expand SEFS’s presence in the market
Financial Management and Resource Allocation:
- Develops and supervises budgets and revenue forecasts
- Efficiently assigns resources to projects and initiatives
- Ensures the achievement of profitability targets while controlling costs
Operational Excellence and Stakeholder Management:
- Ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Manages potential risks and compliance issues
- Decides on effective marketing strategies
- Enforces user acquisition and retention efforts
- Ensures excellent user experience on the mobile money platform
- Implements robust customer support systems
- Assesses SEFS performance and monitor key metrices; Decide on performance improvement measures
- Presents comprehensive reports on performance to CEO and Board
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Assigns and supervises tasks of assigned employees
- Continuously evaluate performance of assigned employees and follow up on mismatches
- Decides on relevant organizational structure within the unit
- Manages the unit’s budget and approve expenses
- Develops and review continuously all internal processes in order to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the unit
- Supervises and ensures production of required reports and statistics
- Enables and implements requisite Company Risk, Compliance and SHE policies and processes and the maintenance of good Corporate Governance
Educational Qualifications and Related Experience:
- Degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics or similar. MBA or MBL (desirable)
- 8+ years of strategic, financial, marketing, telecoms and product related experience, with approximately 3 years at a senior management level
Knowledge Areas & Competencies:
- Expert knowledge of the social payments industry, mobile payment systems, and fintech trends
- Advanced knowledge in strategic orientation and business development knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of marketing, distribution and service/customer experience
- Advanced knowledge on industry trends and their likely business impact
- Advanced skills in financial analysis, budgeting, and financial management
- Advanced skills in identifying and implementing key strategic initiatives and drive them to closure
- Advanced analytical skills
- Intermediate board level reporting and presentation skills
- Advanced project management skills
- Ability to identify, communicate and ensure implementation of key strategies and objectives
- Ability to negotiate, interact and achieve targets
- Advanced ability to lead, manage and develop staff and employees
