Global Projects Director
Remote
Want to challenge yourself at a high-growth startup AND make a difference in the world?
A bit about us:
We make eco-friendly products and donate 50% of our profits to help build toilets for the billions of people in need. We love doing good, and we happen to be exceptionally good at it too! To date, we’ve donated over $10 million AUD (roughly $7.4 million USD) to fund sanitation projects around the globe.
Our team is made up of over 120 amazing people in Australia, the Philippines, China, the US, and Europe working hard to reach our ambitious goal to have the greatest impact possible for people and the planet. How ambitious you ask? Well, it involves increasing our annual donation 10-fold in the next couple of years to get closer to our mission toilets and clean water for all!
A bit about the role:
As the newest addition to our Operations Squad, this Global Projects Director will take the reins of cross-functional project management to upskill our entire team in the art of agile working and effective collaboration. You’ll be supporting our ways of working from asynchronous efficiency, tools and tactics, templates and workflows that help to unlock and build our capabilities.
As a project leader with visibility across our business, you’ll be building project templates, training our team on how to create stronger briefs and timelines, supporting the relationship between internal teams and external partners on innovative tools and tactics to build strategic workflows and design for scalable, transparent futures.
Reporting into our VP of People & Culture, you’ll partner with and provide thought leadership to all levels to ensure cross-functional collaboration success, champion our tools and tactics while singing the Agile tune, continuously keep a pulse on where we can optimize and improve, and oh yeah, feel all the warm fuzzies knowing you’re laying the groundwork to help us scale and get that much closer to our BHAG.
This role will be elevating existing work and breaking new ground for us and so we’ve spent some time imagining all the things we’re hoping you will have achieved when you’re reflecting on your first 12 months.
- You’ve taken our company wide alignment to the next level through taking our OKR setting and review process from good to excellent, digging in to better understand our cross functional collaboration needs and shipping strategies that help us increase visibility over key projects and tactics that ladder up to our company OKR’s.
- You’re leading and roll (hehe) modeling our approach to PM. You’re managing a few key projects per quarter yourself whilst supporting the business with the partnership, practices and tools that have levelled up our effectiveness, connectedness and agility.
- You’ve leveled up our approach to collaboration which has resulted in more time for virtual hugs, more visibility and more consistency over how we come together. You spent time across the business digging for insights and inspiration and you’re leading a constant evolution that our team are embracing.
- You’ve had at least one big ol’ belly laugh per day. It’s not all dashboards, roadmaps and processes. Whether it’s finding the perfect gif, curating the perfect play on words or spending time LOL-ing about something entirely unrelated – you’re truly having a great time and it shows.
Enough about us and the role. Now let’s talk about you
Your background may stem from a range of experience and industries, and you’ve found your sweet spot when it comes to partnering with your internal stakeholders to deliver the highest value across company-wide project lifecycles with a focus on a high level of collaboration and efficiency.
You’re an equal process and people geek
As a true people and projects professional, here’s nothing you GANTT do. You love managing moving parts (and people!) and you’re a pro at coordinating and collaborating across teams. You take pride in understanding the needs of the people you work with from all levels, functions, and experience. You have a soft spot for in fast paced environments, managing concurrent projects and a broad variety of work.
Your flex is flex
You’re adaptable, flexible, and stretchy. You know that the same approach won’t work for every stakeholder or team member so you bend and stretch your style to ensure the best outcomes. You’re empathetic and a great listener but you’re not afraid to give projects a kick up the bum in the nicest way possible. You’re so bendy that you might even be able to jump on the tools and help us pump out some scrappy workflows.
You make it look easy
You know the quote Simple can be harder than complex’ and you work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple so it’s accessible, customizable, and gives our teams the confidence to utilize, learn, and kick some serious project and collaboration butt.
You give a crap
Yep. We’re all here because we genuinely want to make the world a better place with our work, and we want you to want that too! Awwww.
