Overview:
Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho. The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centered HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.
BCMCFL is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill in the following positions of Outreach Nurse on a full time, fixed term contract basis under PINCH project.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Intensified mentorship to build capacity of HCWs on PrEP for pregnant and breastfeeding women (PBW) and other preventative measures;
- To capacitate HCWs on Family Planning for PBW with a particular focus on use of long-term contraceptives and provision of public education on family planning.
- Training of HCWs on HIV and syphilis testing, mentorship to promote use of guidelines, viral load monitoring and tracking of PBW with high viral load for proper management
- Support scale-up of point-of-care (POC) EID at health facility and district hospital level through training and mentorship of health facility staff
- Tracking of PBW with high viral load back to care, early infant identification and monitoring of exposed infants to prevent risk.
- Lead the review of key indicators from antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), under 5 care (U5), HIV-exposed infant care (HEI), HIV testing and counselling services (HTS), ART services and family planning services / registers, as well as any informal documentation maintained by health center personnel.
- Train, mentor and support clinical staff, VHWs and CBOs to influence social and behavior to improve PMTCT services
- Oversees implementation of project strategies to improve appropriate testing, enrolment and retention in care of PBFW and HIV exposed infants
- Conduct regular outreaches in the district
- Train and support facility staff to improve documentation of care provided
- PMTCT services and accelerate demand creation for HIV and TB services
- Perform other duties that are assigned by the Administration.
Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies
- Degree in General Nursing
- Current registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council as a Nurse Midwife
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in HIV/AIDS care and treatment
- Experience working with adolescents and young people will be an added advantage.
- Good report writing, training and computer skills
- Willingness to adapt to the changing demands of the position.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to meet targets.
