Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions tenable in the Ministry of Health.
JOB TITLE: SENIOR TECHNICAL OFFICER (CARPENTRY)
GRADE: E
NO. OF POSITION: FOUR (4)
RESPONSIBLE TO: PRINCIPAL TECHNICAL OFFICER
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Senior Technical Officer, the incumbent is responsible for constructing. repairing and maintaining wooden structures such as furniture, equipment, walls. partitions and other parts of hospital buildings using hand and power tools according to written and oral instructions from the supervisor.
MAIN DUTIES
- Calculate quantity of materials needed, selected stock, tools and supplies for repair of hospital buildings.
- Repairs partitions, doors, windows, floors, furniture and building framework consisting of wood or metal, using power tools such es planner, sander, saws and drills or hand tools such as planes, chisels, hammers, rasps and related equipment
- Read blueprints and specifications
- Measures and marks in prescribed dimensions using rulers, tape measures, calipers, compass and marking pencils to guide cutting operations.
- Install sheetrock, linoleum, vinyl and asphalt tile.
- Cuts and installs Formica as required
- May perform related tasks such as replacing windows, ceiling, file concrete forms, mixing and patching stucco wall surfaces.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Certificate in Carpentry plus three (3) years relevant working experience.
All candidates who apply for positions at Grade H level and above will be subjected to assessment process as per Public Service Regulations of 2008 – Division Ill section 24 (1)
